This day at 2 p.m., the Honourable John Major, in his capacity as Deputy of His Excellency the Governor General, proceeded to the Chamber of the Senate, in the Parliament Buildings, and took his seat at the foot of the Throne. The Members of the Senate being assembled, the Deputy of His Excellency the Governor General was pleased to command the attendance of the House of Commons, and that House being present, the following Bills were assented to in Her Majesty's name by the Deputy of His Excellency the Governor General:
An Act respecting pollution prevention and the protection of the environment
and human health in order to contribute to sustainable development
