AN ACT TO AMEND THE PARLIAMENT OF CANADA ACT, THE MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT RETIRING ALLOWANCES ACT AND THE SALARIES ACT

Order Fixing the Dates of the Coming into Force of Certain Sections of the Act

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of State and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, pursuant to section 31 of An Act to amend the Parliament of Canada Act, the Members of Parliament Retiring Allowances Act and the Salaries Act, assented to on June 14, 2001, being chapter 20 of the Statutes of Canada, 2001, hereby fixes

(a) January 1, 2001 as the day on which sections 2, 5 to 10, 14, 15, 18, 24, 25 and 28 of that Act are deemed to have come into force; and

(b) July 12, 2001 as the day on which sections 1, 3, 4, 11, 12, 16, 17, 19 to 23, 26, 27 and 29 of that Act come into force.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order fixes January 1, 2001 as the day on which sections 2, 5 to 10, 14, 15, 18, 24, 25 and 28 of An Act to amend the Parliament of Canada Act, the Members of Parliament Retiring Allowances Act and the Salaries Act, assented to on June 14, 2001, being chapter 20 of the Statutes of Canada, 2001, are deemed to have come into force and fixes July 12, 2001 as the day on which sections 1, 3, 4, 11, 12, 16, 17, 19 to 23, 26, 27 and 29 of that Act come into force.
