REGULATORY IMPACT
ANALYSIS STATEMENT
(This statement is not part of the Regulations.)
Description
This regulatory amendment package makes two editorial changes to the Compensation for Destroyed Animals Regulations, revises the French title of the Agriculture and Agri-Food Administrative Monetary Penalties Regulations and repeals two redundant orders made under the Health of Animals Act. The changes are expected to have little impact on Canadians. Accordingly, a simplified Regulatory Impact Analysis Statement has been prepared.
The title of the French version of the Agriculture and Agri-Food Administrative Monetary Penalties Regulations (SOR/2000-187) is modified by adding the words "administratives pécuniaires". This amendment will ensure consistency between the English and French versions of the title and between the title of the regulations and the Act.
The amendments to the Compensation for Destroyed Animals Regulations (SOR/2000-233) correct two spelling errors in the English version of the schedule:
(a) in item 24, the term "lama" is replaced by "llama"; and
(b) in item 142, the term "Pinnepedia" is replaced by "Pinnipedia".
The information contained in the Reportable Diseases (Pseudorabies) Order (C.R.C., c. 297), made under the Animal Disease and Protection Act, R.S., 1985, c. A-11 (the former name of the Health of Animals Act), was consolidated into the Reportable Diseases Regulations (SOR/91-2) made in 1991. The Order is therefore redundant and is repealed. There is no change to the existing requirements in the Health of Animals Act that laboratories, veterinarians and owners of animals must report any facts which would indicate that these diseases exist in Canada.
The Goat Skin and Goat Hair Importation Prohibition Order (SOR/82-1044) contains a sunset clause which expired on April 1, 1992. The Order is therefore repealed.
