AN ACT TO AMEND THE STATUTE LAW IN RELATION TO VETERANS' BENEFITS

Order Fixing September 12, 2003 as the Date of the Coming into Force of Certain Sections of the Act

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Veterans Affairs, pursuant to section 101 of An Act to amend the statute law in relation to veterans' benefits ("the Act"), assented to on October 20, 2000, being chapter 34 of the Statutes of Canada, 2000, hereby fixes September 12, 2003, as the day on which paragraphs 5(a), (b), (c) and (c.1) of the Department of Veterans Affairs Act, as enacted by subsection 13(2) of the Act, come into force.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into force certain provisions of the Department of Veterans Affairs Act, as amended by An Act to amend the statute law in relation to veterans' benefits, to clarify regulation-making authorities in the Department of Veterans Affairs Act governing the provision of health care, treatment and other benefits for veterans, the specification of persons and classes of persons entitled to benefits, the management of institutions for the care of veterans, and the payment of the cost of accommodation and meals.
