FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION ACT

Danette Electronical Engineering Services Inc. Remission Order

P.C. 2003-1630 23 October, 2003

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that it is in the public interest to do so, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2) (see footnote a)  of the Financial Administration Act, hereby remits to Danette Electronical Engineering Services Inc. the amount of $7,151.30, representing a rebate of tax paid under Part IX of the Excise Tax Act in respect of tutoring services supplied by the company during the period beginning on January 1, 1998 and ending on March 31, 1999.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order remits $7,151.30 to Danette Electronical Engineering Services Inc. representing the goods and services tax (GST) collectible by that company. The remission is granted because, having relied on misleading information in Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) publications regarding the tax status of tutoring services, company officials failed to properly collect and remit tax payable on the supply of certain tutoring services to university students during the period in question.
