Matunga Kabundi-Leonie Remission Order

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that the collection of the amount is unjust, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue and the Treasury Board, pursuant to subsection 23(2.1) (see footnote a) of the Financial Administration Act, hereby remits to Matunga Kabundi-Leonie the amount of $9,438.70 payable by her as a repayment of Canada child tax benefits under Part I of the Income Tax Act.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order remits the debt with respect to the Canada child tax benefit payments that were determined to be in excess of Matunga Kabundi-Leonie's entitlements for the 1998 and 1999 base taxation years. The remission is based on extreme hardship and Matunga Kabundi-Leonie's reliance on an error on the part of the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency as to her entitlement to the benefit for the period.
