Bernadette Atkins Remission Order

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that it is in the public interest to do so, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2) (see footnote a) of the Financial Administration Act, hereby remits to Bernadette Atkins the amount of $16,800 of tax paid under Division II of Part IX of the Excise Tax Act, in respect of the purchase of certain real property.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order remits $16,800 of the goods and services tax (GST), representing a rebate to which Bernadette Atkins became disentitled as a result of failing to file within the appropriate time limits owing to misleading advice on the part of Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) officials.
