Violet Meikle Remission Order

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that the collection of the tax is unjust, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2) (see footnote a) of the Financial Administration Act, hereby remits tax under Part I of the Income Tax Act in the amount of $9,432 for the 1983 taxation year, and all relevant interest and penalties thereon, paid or payable by Violet Meikle.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order remits the income tax and all relevant interest and penalties paid or payable thereon by Violet Meikle in respect of the 1983 taxation year.

The tax, interest and penalties assessed arose as a result of circumstances that were not within Ms. Meikle's control and represent a significant setback for Ms. Meikle.
