Yvonne Townshend Remission Order

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that the collection of the tax is unjust, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2) (see footnote a) of the Financial Administration Act, hereby remits the tax under Part I of the Income Tax Act in the amounts of $939.75, $1,233.14 and $634.93 for the 1996, 1997 and 1998 taxation years, respectively, and all relevant interest thereon, paid or payable by Yvonne Townshend.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order remits a portion of the income tax and all relevant interest paid or payable thereon by Yvonne Townshend in respect of the 1996, 1997 and 1998 taxation years.

The amount remitted represents the additional tax that is causing a significant financial setback for Ms. Townshend. The difficulty in paying the tax is due to circumstances beyond her control. The remission is also based on extreme hardship.
