Canada Gazette clients,
The Canada Gazette serves an important role in Canada’s regulatory process by helping to inform Canadians of decisions that may affect their daily lives.
Not only does publication in the Canada Gazette serve as official notice to Canadians, it also allows citizens from across the country to participate and to provide their opinion or comments as befits our democratic system.
Insertion rates have remained unchanged since 1991. Now, however, the Canada Gazette is faced with the possibility of having to increase insertion fees in response to the rising costs of publishing the Canada Gazette within the tight time frames prescribed by law.
The Canada Gazette Directorate is considering an increase to insertion fees by approximately 10% to meet our operational requirements. In addition, the Canada Gazette Directorate will ask permission from Treasury Board to factor into insertion fee rates the annual cost-of-living index for future years. No change in current subscription fees is anticipated at this time.
Given the possibility of such an increase, the Canada Gazette Directorate is interested in hearing from both the private and public sector if this increase would impact your operations. Your comments will be taken into consideration in the final decision-making process.
Please feel free to contact Carole Kennedy, Director of the Canada Gazette, prior to October 1, 2004 by telephone at (613) 996-0889, or via e-mail at: canadagazetteducanada@pwgsc.gc.ca with your comments.
Sincerely,
Carole Kennedy, Director
