Unclaimed balances will no longer be published

Dear Sir/Madam:

Please note that subsequent to the passing of Bill C-37, unclaimed balances are no longer published in the Canada Gazette.

Previously, after nine years of account inactivity, unclaimed balances of $100 or more were published in the Canada Gazette, Part I.

After ten years of account inactivity, where the owners cannot be contacted, unclaimed balances will continue to be transferred to the Bank of Canada which will act as a custodian on their behalf.

For more information on this matter, please contact the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions by calling 1-800-385-8647 or by visiting their Web site at www.osfi-bsif.gc.ca. To search for an unclaimed balance, please visit the Bank of Canada Web site at www.bankofcanada.ca or call 1-888-891-6398.
