Resources for Teachers

Many people currently believe that voting in elections when they are of age is the only way to participate in the democratic process. Fortunately, this is not true. Anyone, regardless of age, can participate in the regulation-making process by voicing their opinion on the proposed regulations published in the Canada Gazette and make a difference. Departments and agencies must consider all comments received during the consultation period before regulations can be approved.

In collaboration with Media Awareness Network (MNet), the Canada Gazette Directorate has developed teaching lessons to encourage young people to learn how they can participate in the regulation-making process. These lessons are part of a broader series of teaching lessons on cyber bullying. The following teaching lessons are currently available to help educators in all provinces and territories meet their curriculum needs:

Cyber Bullying and the Law
(Grades 7–8 / Secondary 1 and 2 [Quebec])

Cyber Bullying and the Law
(Grades 9–12 / Secondary 3 to CEGEP [Quebec])

Cyber Bullying and Civic Participation
(Grades 7–8 / Secondary 1 and 2 [Quebec])

Additional resources will be posted in this section of our Web site once available.
