ASSUMPTION REINSURANCE TRANSACTION

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with section 587.1 of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada), that application will be made to the Minister of Finance (Canada) on or after August 11, 2008, for the Minister’s approval to enter into an assumption reinsurance agreement between American Home Assurance Company (“American Home”) and AIG Commercial Insurance Company of Canada (“AIG Commercial”, formerly known as Commerce and Industry Insurance Company of Canada), whereby the Canadian branch of American Home will reinsure, on an assumption basis, all of the risks undertaken by it, including various structured settlements, with AIG Commercial, including all present and future obligations under such risks.

A copy of the assumption reinsurance agreement relating to this transaction will be available for inspection by the policyholders and other interested persons during regular business hours for a period of 30 days commencing July 12, 2008, at the following location:

Pursuant to section 651 of the Insurance Companies Act (the “Act”), notice is hereby given that Markel International Insurance Company Limited, carrying on business in Canada as a branch under the name Terra Nova Insurance Company Limited (Terra Nova), intends to apply to the Superintendent of Financial Institutions on or after August 24, 2008, for the release of the assets that it maintains in Canada in accordance with the Act.
