AN ACT TO AMEND THE JUDGES ACT AND CERTAIN OTHER ACTS IN RELATION TO COURTS

Order Fixing April 4, 2008 as the Date of the Coming into Force of Certain Sections of the Act

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, pursuant to subsection 35(1) of An Act to amend the Judges Act and certain other Acts in relation to courts, assented to on December 14, 2006, being chapter 11 of the Statutes of Canada, 2006, hereby fixes April 4, 2008 as the day on which subsections 9(1) and (2) of that Act come into force.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Order fixes April 4, 2008 as the day on which subsections 9(1) and (2) of An Act to amend the Judges Act and certain other Acts in relation to courts, assented to on December 14, 2006, being chapter 11 of the Statutes of Canada, 2006, come into force. Subsections 9(1) and (2) of that Act concern amendments to paragraphs 40(1)(c) and (e) of the Judges Act. The amendments concern the entitlement to a removal allowance for certain superior court judges who relocate as a result of retirement.
