CANADA EMPLOYMENT INSURANCE FINANCING BOARD ACT

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, pursuant to section 135 of the Budget Implementation Act, 2008 (the “Act”), chapter 28 of the Statutes of Canada, 2008, hereby fixes June 20, 2008 as the day on which the Canada Employment Insurance Financing Board Act, other than paragraph 4(a), as enacted by section 121 of the Act, and sections 123 and 134 of the Act, come into force.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

Sections 121 and 123 of the Budget Implementation Act, 2008 (the “Act”) enact the Canada Employment Insurance Financing Board Act. The mandate of the Board is to manage a financial reserve and to set the Employment Insurance premium rate on the coming into force of paragraph 4(a) of the Canada Employment Insurance Financing Board Act. Section 134 of the Act amends Part I of Schedule III of the Financial Administration Act to list the Canada Employment Insurance Financing Board as a Crown corporation.
