BUDGET IMPLEMENTATION ACT, 2008

Order Fixing August 5, 2008 as the Date of the Coming into Force of Sections 146 and 147 of the Act

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, pursuant to subsection 164(1) of the Budget Implementation Act, 2008, chapter 28 of the Statutes of Canada, 2008, hereby fixes August 5, 2008 as the day on which sections 146 and 147 of that Act come into force.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

The Order fixes August 5, 2008, as the day on which sections 146 and 147 of the Budget Implementation Act, 2008 come into force. Those provisions amend the Bank of Canada Act to modernize the powers and business practices of the Bank of Canada in the context of conducting monetary policy and promoting the stability of the Canadian financial system.
