EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order.)
The Order brings An Act to amend the National Defence Act, the Criminal Code, the Sex Offender Information Registration Act and the Criminal Records Act into force on September 12, 2008. The amendments establish a legislative scheme by which sex offenders in the Canadian Forces are required to report and provide information for registration under the Sex Offender Information Registration Act. The amendments to the National Defence Act also establish mechanisms by which the reporting and information requirements can, if necessary, be adjusted to accommodate military operational requirements.
