Order Repealing Certain Orders Made under the Canada Business Corporations Act

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Industry, pursuant to
subsection 261(4) (see footnote a) of the Canada Business Corporations Act (see footnote b), hereby makes the annexed Order Repealing Certain Orders Made under the Canada Business Corporations Act.

ORDER REPEALING CERTAIN ORDERS MADE UNDER
THE CANADA BUSINESS CORPORATIONS ACT

REPEALS

1. The following Orders are repealed:

(a) Order in Council P.C. 1980–2057 (see footnote 1) of July 31, 1980; and

(b) Order in Council P.C. 1980–3378 (see footnote 2) of December 11, 1980.

COMING INTO FORCE

2. This Order comes into force on the day on which it is registered.

Description

The objective of this order is to repeal the following orders under the Canada Business Corporations Act (CBCA) because they are spent (i.e. no longer enforced):

• Order in Council P.C. 1980-2057 of July 31, 1980 (SOR/80-629) Determining that the Canada Development Corporation Need Not Apply for a Certificate of Continuance Under the Act — The Canada Development Corporation was incorporated by a special Act of Parliament in 1971 and continued under the CBCA in 1986, so the Order is no longer required.
• Order in Council P.C. 1980-3378 of December 11, 1980 (SOR/80-957) Determining that Telesat Canada Need Not Apply for a Certificate of Continuance Under the Act — Telesat Canada was incorporated by a special Act of Parliament in 1969 and continued under the CBCA in 1992, so the Order is no longer required.

These orders are of a technical nature and their repeal will not reflect substantive changes. It is expected that the repealing of these orders will have no impact on Canadians.
