Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that it is in the public interest to do so, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2) (see footnote a) of the Financial Administration Act (see footnote b), hereby remits tax in the amount of $1,306.32 paid by Jessica McKenna under Division II of Part IX of the Excise Tax Act (see footnote c) in respect of the purchase of a motor vehicle for personal use transferred from Nova Scotia to British Columbia and for which no rebate is payable.
EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order.)
The Order remits $1,306.32 of the provincial portion of the harmonized sales tax (HST) to Jessica McKenna, a rebate to which she became disentitled because she did not apply for it in a timely manner owing to misinformation on the part of an agent of the provincial authorities in British Columbia.
