BUDGET IMPLEMENTATION ACT, 2009

Order Fixing July 1, 2009 as the Date of the Coming into Force of Certain Sections of the Act

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, pursuant to subsection 259(1) of the Budget Implementation Act, 2009, chapter 2 of the Statutes of Canada, 2009, hereby fixes July 1, 2009 as the day on which sections 233, 234 and 236 to 244, subsections 245(1) to (6), sections 246 to 253, 255 and 256, subsection 257(2) and section 258 of that Act come into force.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

The Order fixes July 1, 2009 as the day on which certain provisions of Division 2 of Part 5 of the Budget Implementation Act, 2009 come into force. Those provisions amend the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation Act to provide the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation with greater flexibility to enhance its ability to safeguard financial stability in Canada and make consequential amendments to other Acts.
