Regulations Amending the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (Miscellaneous Program)

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Labour, pursuant to sections 125 (see footnote a) and 157 (see footnote b) of the Canada Labour Code (see footnote c), makes the annexed Regulations Amending the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (Miscellaneous Program).

REGULATIONS AMENDING THE CANADA OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULATIONS (MISCELLANEOUS PROGRAM)

AMENDMENTS

1. Section 2.20 of the English version of the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (see footnote 1) is replaced by the following:

2.20 Sections 2.21 to 2.24 apply to every work place that is equipped with an HVAC system and that is under the employer’s control.

2. (1) The definition “low pressure steam boiler” in section 5.1 of the Regulations is replaced by the following:

“low pressure steam boiler” means a boiler that operates at a steam pressure not exceeding one atmosphere of pressure. (chaudière à vapeur d’eau basse pression)

(2) The definition “chaudière à récupération de chaleur” in section 5.1 of the French version of the Regulations is replaced by the following:

« chaudière à récupération de chaleur » Chaudière à chauffe indirecte qui utilise, pour produire de la vapeur d’eau, des gaz d’échappement résultant d’un procédé primaire. (waste heat boiler)

3. Paragraph 5.5(2)(b) of the French version of the Regulations is replaced by the following:

4. The portion of subsection 5.11(1) of the French version of the Regulations before paragraph (a) is replaced by the following:

5.11 (1) Les chaudières à haute pression et les chaudières à vapeur d’eau basse pression utilisées dans un lieu de travail font l’objet des inspections suivantes :

5. Subsection 16.2(2) of the Regulations is replaced by the following:

(2) The employer shall keep a copy of the instructions available at all times for consultation by employees.

6. The portion of subsection 16.3(3) of the Regulations before paragraph (b) is replaced by the following:

(3) At every workplace at which an employee is working on live high voltage electrical equipment, the employer shall ensure that

9. The portion of subsection 16.6(1) of the English version of the Regulations before paragraph (a) is replaced by the following:

16.6 (1) Subject to subsection (2), the employer shall post and keep posted or make available to every employee in a conspicuous place in each workplace

10. Subsection 16.13(6) of the English version of the Regulations is replaced by the following:

(6) The employer shall maintain a record of the expiry dates of the first aid certificates of the first aid attendants and make it available to them.

COMING INTO FORCE

11. These Regulations come into force on the day on which they are registered.
