The Federal Minister and the Provincial Minister, pursuant to subsection 141(1) (see footnote a) of the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation Act (see footnote b), issue the annexed Joint Notice Specifying the Prohibition Period For Certain Activities on Georges Bank.

Joint Notice Specifying the Prohibition Period For Certain Activities on Georges Bank

Prohibition

Period

1 For the purpose of subsection 141(3) (see footnote 1) of the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation Act (see footnote 2), the exploration and drilling for and the production, conservation and processing of petroleum in that portion of the offshore area described in Schedule IV to that Act, and the transportation of petroleum produced in that portion of the offshore area are prohibited for a period beginning on the date on which this Joint Notice comes into force and ending on December 31, 2022.

Coming into Force

April 15, 2016

2 This Joint Notice comes into force on April 15, 2016, but if it is registered after that day, it comes into force on the day on which it is registered.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Notice.)

The Notice sets out April 15, 2016, as the date on which the moratorium on oil and gas activities on Georges Bank comes into force.
