Peter Hilton Tax Remission Order

P.C. 2011-1339 November 17, 2011

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that the collection of the tax and interest is unjust, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2) (see footnote a) of the Financial Administration Act (see footnote b), hereby remits tax in the amount of $628.75 and arrears interest of $2,112.27 as of June 14, 1999, paid or payable under Part Ⅰ of the Income Tax Act (see footnote c) by Peter Hilton for the 1995 taxation year, and all relevant interest on that tax and interest.

(This note is not part of the Order.)

The Order remits a portion of federal tax and arrears interest for the 1995 tax year paid or payable by Peter Hilton.

The remission is based on incorrect action on the part of Canada Revenue Agency officials.
